Resolution to Support Military Initiatives in the State of Minnesota

  

Whereas:       there are approximately 440,000 veterans of the Armed Forces residing in Minnesota and over 25,000 Minnesotans presently serving in the United States Armed Forces , both active duty and reserve forces, actively engaged in the War on Terror to protect the freedom of this nation; and,

 

Whereas:       family members of deployed service members are often separated for extended periods of time, and sometimes forever when the service member dies in combat operations; and,

 

Whereas:       many service members that have residence in the State of Minnesota, perform their duty outside of the State of Minnesota; and,

 

Whereas:       many veterans will return to the State of Minnesota to pursue higher education; and,

 

Whereas:       veterans that are receiving retired pay are being taxed on this compensation.

 

Now Therefore Be It Resolved That:        

                        The Reserve Officers Association, Department of Minnesota, strongly encourage the Minnesota Senate and Minnesota House of Representatives to support Senate File 2654 and House File 2921.
