ROA Member Scholarship News
The Freedom Fund initiated funding of scholarships for Minnesota ROA member officers to attend professional training beginning in late 2005.
Two educational events were selected as appropriate for professional development of reserve officers in Minnesota.
The two events selected were ROA Reserve Component Joint Officer Professional Development Seminar (JOPDS) and the Joint Officer Leadership and Development Training Seminar (JOLDTS). Both types of events were funded and attended by awardees in 2006.
The JOPDS training is primarily individual professional development training of the kind not available in the services. The JOLDTS training is focused on how the individual service member is to fit within a multi-service team. See Report C below for a description of the 2007 JOLDTS Training.
Scholarships are applied for by the Minnesota ROA member with the Freedom Fund Board of Directors making the selection.
The amount of an individual scholarship for each of the two types for 2006 and for 2007 were for expenses up to an amount of $1500.00.
